Individual Therapy

Making the decision to engage in therapy can be difficult, even stressful, but it’s often the first step in making long-lasting changes in your life. We know how important finding the right therapist is to your success, and we aim to make it as easy as possible.

Our psychologists utilize a variety of treatment modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-informed therapy and integrative approaches. Common concerns that bring clients in include anxiety (generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, phobias), depression, OCD, PTSD, sleep issues, eating disorders, interpersonal stress or trauma, and difficulty adjusting to college life. We also help clients who may be struggling to create more fulfilling and healthier relationships, careers, and/or families.

Our team offers highly individualized care because we know that each of our clients is unique.  Determining which treatment provider will be the best fit for you is dependent on your presenting concerns and therapy goals, as well as the treatment style of the therapist.

We believe that several steps are essential in order for therapy to be successful:

  • Building Trust and Establishing a Relationship – Our clinicians know how important a strong therapeutic relationship is to the treatment process (and research has shown this time and time again). We strive to create a comfortable environment that is warm, respectful, and affirming in order to facilitate honest and productive discussions and reflection.
  • Set Objectives or Goals – Once we establish a safe and trusting relationship, and get a good idea of your history and concerns, we work together with you to set goals for your treatment.
  • Employ Strategies for Change – Once goals are in place, we determine the best treatment approach. For some, exploring and working through unhealthy relationship patterns can be the key to creating healthier interactions with others. For others, a more structured approach is used, whereby we help you identify and change negative thought patterns to create more adaptive ways of thinking and relating to the world. For clients who have been through traumatic relationships and experiences, we help you create and use effective coping strategies to navigate everyday life in healthier ways, and to work towards achieving more fulfilling and safe relationships in the future.
